Armadillo Osteoderm Fossil Collection – Bony Armor Plates

This is collection of three pieces (osteoderms) of the shell of an armadillo called Dasypus bellus, a relative of the modern nine-banded armadillo which is also from the genus Dasypus. Their shells are made up of thousands of these that lock together. These osteoderms are in great condition.
