This is a pretty rare species of shark to find! It also has unbelievably nice enamel and serrations on it. The root of the tooth is a bit damaged/eroded, but that’s pretty common with these, especially with the younger ones. If the root was flawless, these tooth would be many times more expensive (and I’d probably keep it in my personal collection rather than selling it).
These sharks are thought to be direct ancestors of the megalodon shark. I subscribe to that idea fully; the cusps on the side are progressively lost over time as the epochs progress. This particular shark tooth is Eocene in age and is one of the oldest fossils that can be found in Florida (which is where it was found).
