This beautiful stick is completely petrified with still preserved bark and knots. Believed to be from the Pleistocene of Florida, from 10,000 to 2.5 million years old!
This is an incredibly uncommon fossil from Florida. Petrified wood is not common here at all, but completely petrified sticks that look almost like a modern stick you would see on the ground? Very rare. When I first found this, I didn’t think they were fossils, but they are indeed completely turned to stone, very heavy and sound like ceramic or china when tapped together.
