Giant Armadillo Osteoderm Fossil Collection – Bony Armor Plates

This is collection of three pieces (osteoderms) of the shell of a giant armadillo like animal called a pampathere. Their shells are made up of thousands of these that lock together. This species is Holmesina septentrionalis, a fantastic Pleistocene animal that went extinct at the end of the ice age along with so many other megafauna. These osteoderms are in great condition.
